Sierra Leone Education Grant

BE THE DIFFERENCE THAT MAKES A DIFFERENCE

Sierra Leone

In 2019 Frontline Children CEO Roly Rickcord and Ambassdor Jordan Wylie visited Freetown in Sierra Leone and were moved by what they witnessed. On return a proposal was made to the Frontline Children board of trustees to provide a grant donation to Wharf Kids (Registered Charity 1165978) to fund the education of 10 children for one year, the board approved the request. Wharf Kids is a small Sierra Leone based charity that focussed on securing the future of children affected by Ebola in Sierra Leone. Together with Whatf Kids, we at Frontline Children believe that all children should have a chance. A chance to grow, prosper and feel secure. A chance to achieve their full potential in life, regardless of the circumstances into which they were born, or the tragedies they have experienced.

Wharf Kids believe that that chance comes in the form of education. We cannot change the world, but we can try to change the future for some of the poorest children in Sierra Leone, whose lives have been devastated by Ebola. By funding their schooling, we offer these youngsters the chance to educate themselves out of the grinding cycle of poverty.
